The Spring is always a busy time, especially April. Below are a few events that are coming up. Note: Not all events have been discussed by the 12th Texas Artillery and therefore may not have one of the cannon present. Watch Facebook for more updated details:
Camp Ford, April 2: At the site of the old prison camp in Tyler, Texas, this is usually a day-long living history. I have been told that this year it is a more expansive, and should include a small-scale reenactment.
Pleasant Hill, April 8-10: On the actual battlefield and the actual dates, this is a max effort for the unit. It is my understanding that for the event this year there will be a Friday battle as well.
Mexia, April 15-17: At the Confederate Reunion Grounds this event has been ongoing for over 20 years. These grounds once hosted the old Confederate veterans' summer reunions and the event coordinators try to continue some of their traditions. Camp beneath the burr oaks that sheltered the soldiers of a by-gone day.
Jefferson, April 29-May 1: In the old riverboat town of Jefferson this is a good event. The battery, unless something changes, will be camping in town at Lion's Park and will be a part of the town festivities. The battle is several miles outside of town and has been very good in the past
